PROFILE
BED is the electric utility for the City of Burlington, Vermont, US.
Burlington Electric Department has launched the Preferred Electric Vehicle Dealership Network to help our customers more easily navigate electric vehicle purchasing and to help advance Burlington’s transition to Net Zero Energy. We offer multiple rebates on new and used EVs. We are now offering incentives totaling 20% of the installed cost of a workplace EV charging station up to a maximum of $1,000 per eligible station. When you purchase an All-Electric Vehicle (AEV), BED will give you $1,200 toward the purchase of your AEV, a $400 rebate for a qualifying EV charger and 45% savings on the energy you need to charge your EV when you join the Residential EV Rate! To help transition more customers to electric vehicles, BED is partnering with 3 credit unions (Green Mountain Credit Union, Vermont Federal Credit Union, and VSECU) able to offer low- and, under certain circumstances, no-interest loans, and allowing Burlington Electric customers to apply their Burlington Electric EV incentives toward the purchase of EVs.
BED continues to offer its $200 point-of-sale E-bike incentives, and BED customers benefit from a partnership between Burlington’s Old Spokes Home, a retail bike shop and non-profit that creates access to bikes and the opportunities they provide for the whole community, and Opportunities Credit Union that helps make E-bikes available to low-income customers who plan to use the E-bikes for commuting to work. Old Spokes Home is selling the E-bikes at cost and further reducing the price by BED’s $200 incentive, and Opportunities Credit Union is offering zero-percent interest, low-barrier loans.
